What type of Jiu Jitsu is Aiuchi Jiu Jitsu?
Aiuchi Jiu Jitsu is a traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu (not to be mistaken with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu).

Do I need special clothing? What should I wear?

For your first few sessions you can wear track suit bottoms and a long-sleeve t-shirt.
As you continue training, you will need a training suit, called a Gi.
You can buy one from the club, or we can suggest websites where you can buy a suitable one yourself.
For hygiene reasons, a pair of flip-flops or sandals will come in handy if you need to use the toilet.

What ages can train?
Children aged 6 to 13 (approx.) can train at the Juniors Session, Saturdays, 5:30 - 7:00pm
Older children and Adults can train at the Seniors Session, Saturdays, 7:00pm - 8:30pm

How do I know my child will be safe?
All instructors are DBS cleared and first-aid qualified.
Parents are very welcome to stay in the café, or watch the session.

How much does it cost?
Each session is £4 per person, payment on attendance.
Membership of Aiuchi Jiu Jitsu Association (providing insurance) is £2/month or £15/year for Juniors, £3/month or £25/year for Adults.
A training suit (Gi) will cost ~ £20 - £25 depending on size.
Gradings cost around £10 of which you should expect to do 2 or 3 per year.
There are also national events - these are optional to attend but always lots of fun. Typical cost is £10 - £15.
